SUPPLIER & SUPPLY PROGRAMME EVALUATION
Procurement is not
just price discovery.
A framework for evaluating whether a soy ingredient supplier can support the requirement you actually need to fulfil.
Evaluate the whole
supply equation.
Unit price is one variable. Procurement also has to consider product suitability, specification alignment, supplier capability, logistics, continuity and the commercial terms of the programme.
Five questions before
you compare offers.
Requirement
Is the product requirement sufficiently defined?
Supplier
Can capability be evaluated against that requirement?
Specification
Are the relevant parameters aligned?
Delivery
Do packaging and logistics fit the programme?
Continuity
Can the commercial relationship support repeat supply?
Compare equivalent
propositions.
A meaningful commercial comparison requires comparable product definitions and delivery assumptions. Clarify what is included before treating two prices as directly equivalent.
